Now only three of them remain--Athos, Prothos and Aramis--to stand in the way of Richelieu who's plotting to overthrow the young King and assume the throne. Barely post-pubescent, His Royal Highness is extremely vulnerable to Richelieu's elaborate political machinations; but fortunately, D'Artagnan, a young man longing to join forces with the Musketeers, happens along. All things considered, The Three Musketeers has got to be one of the dumbest period actioners I've ever seen, but not dumb in the way a movie like The Mummy is dumb, in that it's brainless action.
