Edward Walters, an auto mechanic, falls for the intelligent and beautiful Catherine Boyd. It is love at first sight. There is however a problem, she's engaged to jerk James Moreland. Fortunately, Catherine's uncle likes Ed, and with his friends they scheme to make Catherine fall for Ed. The comedy in this movie stems from the fact that Catherine's uncle is none other than Albert Einstein, who's portrayed as a fun loving genius, as are his mischievous colleagues, Nathan, Kurt and Boris.
On a sunny afternoon in Princeton, New Jersey, of the 1950s, love strikes in the oddest way: Albert Einstein's niece Catherine (Meg Ryan), and her uptight fiancé James (Stephen Fry), stop at a gas station for car repairs, and when dim-witted grease monkey Ed Walters (Tim Robbins) appears, he falls head over heels in love with Catherine. Remember that movie from the mid-90s called I.Q. ? One of the last movies of Walter Matthau 's career, the Oscar winning actor portrayed Albert Einstein in a romantic comedy with Tim Robbins and Meg Ryan . It was a silly little film and critics didn't go nuts over it, but it was an interesting feature film version of the most famous theoretical physicist of all time.
