Salma Zidane, a widow, lives simply from her grove of lemon trees in the West Bank's occupied territory. The Israeli defense minister and his wife move next door; the Secret Service orders the trees removed for security. Selma, een Palestijnse vrouw, krijgt te maken met een nieuwe buurman: de Minister van Defensie van Israël, die intrekt in een huis naast haar citroengaard, op de grens van Israël en de Westoever. An unlikely friendship takes root in LEMON TREE, a drama set along the border of Israel and the West Bank. Salma (THE VISITOR’s Hiam Abbass) is a Palestinian woman who lives at the boundary of the two regions, and she finds that her beloved lemon trees are in danger of being taken away at the request of her new neighbor, the Israeli defense minster. As Salma takes her fight to Israel’s highest court, she also develops a friendship with the government official’s frustrated wife.
