Dr. Alan Grant is now a happy man with the previous incidents of Jurassic Park now behind him. Grant is that happy that he announce in public, that nothing on Earth can persuade him back onto the islands. Maybe nothing, except Paul Kirby. Kirby and his wife, Amanda want a plane to fly them over Isla Sorna, with Dr. Grant as their guide. But not everything Kirby says is true. When the plane lands, Dr. Grant realizes that there is another reason why they are there, that he doesn't know of. Now, Dr. Grant is stuck on an island he has never been on before, with what was a plane journey now turned into a search party.
Director Joe Johnston takes over the creative reins from Steven Spielberg for this third installment in the thriller franchise. Sam Neill returns as Dr. Alan Grant, a scientist who's tricked by wealthy couple Paul and Amanda Kirby (William H. Macy and Tea Leoni) into a fly-over of Isla Sorna. The object of their sightseeing tour is one of the Costa Rican islands populated by ferocious, genetically bred dinosaurs and the "site B" setting of Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World (1997). ing accident. Trapped on Isla Sorna, Grant and his companions discover some painful truths the hard way. Among their discoveries: some of the scaly monsters possess more advanced communicative abilities than previously believed, the dreaded Tyrannosaurus Rex has a larger and more lethal competitor, and flying Pteranodons pose an even graver threat than some of their land-locked brethren. Jurassic Park III is the first in the series not to be based upon a novel by original author Michael Crichton.

Dr. Alan Grant wil graag zijn dinosaurus-onderzoek voortzetten. Hij wordt door de rijke avonturier Paul Kirby en zijn vrouw Amanda uitgenodigd om als gastheer op te treden bij een tour over Isla Sorna. Hun vliegtuig stort echter neer, met als gevolg dat Grant weer tegenover de dino's komt te staan.

Captain America: The First Avenger director Joe Johnston got a nice career boost thanks to the success of his WWII superhero movie, but surprisingly Johnston isn't moving right back into the big movie arena with his next project. He's just signed to direct a 'micro-budget' thriller called Not Safe For Work, which is produced by Blumhouse Pictures, which has a first-look deal with Universal. It sounds like quite a departure from making movies on the scale of Captain America, The Wolfman and Jurassic Park III .
