IJshockey-speler Jonathan Cross verdient wat geld bij met straatraces. Ridley, een oude vriend, redt hem van de politie wanneer hij bijna opgepakt wordt, en vertelt hem vervolgens over Rollerball, een Aziatisch tv-fenomeen waar mannen en vrouwen op rollerblades en motoren op een track racen en punten proberen te scoren met een zware stalen bal.
