Tegen zijn eigen verwachtingen in wordt Landon al heel snel verliefd op Jamie, die over een levensvreugde beschikt die hij nooit voor mogelijk hield. Maar het is niet gemakkelijk, Jamie heeft zo haar eigen redenen om de liefde te ontvluchten tot het onmogelijk wordt deze nog langer te ontkennen.
