While going to the town of Ashby Wake, the drifter Cassie is hit by a car driven by Marion Kirkman and loses her memory. Een bizar ongeluk in Glastonbury leidt tot de opgraving van een eeuwenoude muurschildering. Hierop staat de kruisiging op een hele bijzondere manier weergegeven: in plaats van een afbeelding van Christus, zijn de sinistere gezichten van de toekijkers te zien.
