They travel in Turner's bruised and battered VW Bus, blasting music out of an eight-track-tape player, trying to maintain their sanity for the sake of young Bobo, who is the only one seemingly excited about the journey. Written and directed by first-time filmmaker Jordan Roberts, AROUND THE BEND is a poignant drama of fathers and sons, of family secrets, of running away, and just maybe of forgiveness. The acting is solid throughout, including the terrific Glenne Headly as Henry's Swedish home caretaker, and there is just the right mix of comedy and drama, music and dialogue to make this a winning debut.
