Bolt, an American White Shepherd, has lived his whole life on the set of his action TV show, where he believes he has superpowers. When separated from the studio by accident, he meets a female alley cat named Mittens and a hamster named Rhino. Along the way, he learns that he doesn't have superpowers and that the show is not real.
When an accident transports canine actor Bolt from Hollywood to the streets of New York City, the poor pup has to try to make his way home. But soon Bolt realizes that he doesn't have all the special powers that his TV alter ego does, and things get a lot tougher! John Travolta provides the voice for the dog of the title in this animated film, while comedienne Susie Essman cracks the audience up with her portrayal of a cat named Mittens. Fans of HANNAH MONTANA will be pleased to hear young star Miley Cyrus providing a voice as well.

Bolt is een superhond. Althans, dat is hij wekelijks in zijn eigen TV-serie "American Dog". Al denkt hij daar zelf heel anders over. Some movies are born easily: they represent a whole bunch of factors like script, talent and money that happen to be in the same place at the same time. Others aren't born so easily, and lurch towards screens in fits and starts. Case in point: Disney's animated adaptation of a Philip K. Dick short story, King of the Elves, and Sony's attempt to make a new movie out of the '80s toy line and cartoon Masters of the Universe. Both films might be picking up steam again, however, after falling off the radar for a while.
