Aging stuntman Sonney Hooper is still on top as one of the best stuntmen in the business. But up and coming Ski is starting to do bigger and better stunts. Hooper has the experience to setup a stunt safely, and Ski lacks the common sense to know when a stunt is too dangerous. Maybe together, along with their fun loving buddies, they can do a stunt together that will surpass anything that anyone has done.

Behind the scenes, stuntmen compete with one another for the title "best in town." A young upstart challenges aging stuntman Hooper's crown as the king, forcing him to deliver one more dangerous stunt that could either kill him or make him a living legend. Reynolds vehicle has moments of humor, and the action scenes are energetically photographed.

Sonny Hooper een stuntman, staat bekend om zijn moed, kracht en expertise als het om de nieuwste stunts gaat. Als hij gevraagd wordt voor een nieuwe film, wordt hij geconfronteerd met een regisseur die niet snel tevreden is. Sonny krijgt steeds meer last van oude blessures en houdt zich op de been met pijnstillers. Dan meldt een jonge stuntman zich aan op de filmset en vanaf dat moment raakt Sonny verwikkeld in een concurrentiestrijd met de nieuwe stuntman.
