The story of the Buckman family and friends, attempting to bring up their children. They suffer/enjoy all the events that occur: estranged relatives, the "black sheep" of the family, the eccentrics, the skeletons in the closet, and the rebellious teenagers.
The Buckmans are a modern-day family facing the age-old dilemma of trying to raise children the "right" way. At the center of the storm is Gil, who manages to keep his unique sense of humor while maintaining his career, and being a loving husband and parent.
This feel-good ensemble comedy tracks a quartet of suburban siblings and their families over the course of a single summer. After appearing on the ABC laffer "Sports Night" and the HBO drama " Six Feet Under ," Peter Krause (" Parenthood ") has returned to the peacock net where he got his TV start two decades ago on "Carol & Company. " At just 25, he was by far the youngest member of a repertory company that also included Richard Kind and Swoozie Kurtz who supported Emmy darling Carol Burnett in half-hour comedy teleplays. Back then, NBC was also airing its first short-lived adapation of the hit 1989 Ron Howard film "Parenthood."
